Today's Photos: Summer's End

With the kids back in school, the rope swing looks lonely.
Kudzu flowers are sweet as honeysuckle.
I took a brief walk along the Roanoke River today and came away with the impression that summer is nearly gone.

We're at the part of the season where the kudzo is in full bloom and smelling sweet, but the leaves are showing their first sign of fall, the river is clear and the air is hot and clean.

And, of course, the kids are otherwise occupied.
Kudzu was introduced into the U.S. at the 1888 Philadelphia Expo and has been a pain in the ass since.
This beautiful vine grows on the Greenway fence.
