Taubman Selects 'Virginia Girl' as Executive Director

Della Watkins: New ED at the Taubman
It's probably unfair to ask detailed questions of the new executive director of a major community organization, but Della Watkins, who will assume the top management position at the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke didn't answer anyway, so no harm done, I suppose.

She's a native of Tappahannock ("a Virginia girl," she says) and a graduate of James Madison University and VCU and comes to Roanoke from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond. Her response about the imprint she expects to leave was, "I have a lot to learn and I have to figure how it works and how I will play to the community." She says she's interested in creating "financial stability" and interaction with the community. Not a lot to bite into, but it's early and her resume is a good one.
