Kennedy Center Includes Hollins Plays in Its Salute

Pulitzer winner Natasha Trethewey's play is a selection
I've said it before and now the Kennedy Center has shown that it agrees: Hollins University sets a standard for theater production that makes this entire region exemplary in this most marvelous of all art forms.

The Kennedy Center has chosen to perform Hollins works (students' works, former students, and the extraordinary staff). Hollins grad and Pulitzer Prize winner Natasha Trethewey's "Bellocq's Ophelia" is one of the selections. You can find out all about it here.

There's a lot of credit to go around, but let me emphasize that it is highly unlikely that this would have happened without the influence of the estimable Ernie Zulia and the talented Todd Ristau. Todd runs the theater lab and Ernie is the guy in charge of the theater--putting on plays that would make Broadway proud.

If you haven't caught a play at Hollins, for god's sake do. It's not just the best theater in these parts (and maybe the state) on any level, it's cheap and accessible.
