Press Photographers Association, on the Chicago Sun-Times' decision to lay off its entire photo staff in favor of "freelance photographers" here.
(The Newspaper Guild president responded to the layoff thusly: “As a union, we are deeply concerned about the workers who are losing
good, family-wage jobs. As an organization of journalists, we are
appalled that any newspaper would treat its photojournalists as
expendable.”) The beat goes on and my profession continues to eat itself alive.
