A Brief Hike on a Winter's Morn

The color can be rich and deep this time of year.
I like that I can see this walking in the middle of the city.
I was on the way to the gym this morning for one of those artificial indoor exercise sessions this morning when it occurred to me that I didn't have to be inside on a beautiful, crisp--but not cold--winter's day. I had just had an editorial meeting and Fishburn Park was just ahead, so I pulled into the parking lot and started to walk Murray Run Greenway Trail.

I like this little trail because it has a good bit of soul for a city walk and includes a bit of climbing, water bubbling and plenty of color, even in the dead of winter. Thank you Roanoke for providing this kind of blessing.
