In Virginia, the Vote Was As Expected (Sadly)

My pal Val Garner reports that in Virginia four Republicans and two Democrats voted against the fiscal deal in Washington. My guess is that the Dems (Moran and Scott) believe--as I do--that the bill was a sellout to the monied interests and that forcing Republicans to publicly trash the economy was the best alternative.

The Repubs (Goodlatte, Griffith and Hurt from our Region and Cantor, who leads the far, far right wing) did the predictable: stood up for the billionaire interests over the interests of the rest of us.

Pretty simple stuff, at its core. But it's why we're where we are: tumbling down as a nation into the abyss. We've lost our heart and our sold, replacing both with the all-out effort to make the rich richer, the powerful more powerful and to leave the minority of radicals in the House in charge of us all. Sigh.
