A Writing Contest for Even The Craziest of You

Community High School in Roanoke, the breeding ground for many creative ideas in the arts, has a sizzling new contest just around the corner for adventurous novelists and would-be novelists. If you have stamina, creativity, a typing machine that doesn't overheat and an obsessive-compulsive disorder, this one's for you.

It's The 2013 Roanoke Pulp and Paper 48-Hour Novel Writing Contest in which writers will be given 48 hours to come up with a novel that will win one of them $500. Novels will be written between 9 a.m.  Saturday, March 23, and 9 a.m. of Monday, March 25.

Cover illustrations are also being sought, to be presented simultaneously with the novel entries.

Judging will be C.L. Bledsoe, a poet, essayist and novelist (including the memorable Last Stand in Zombie Town).

The winner will be announced on March 30 Vaudeville Night during theMarginal Arts Festival. The winning book will be printed, bound and available that night.

All contestants must register beforehand. To do that, e-mail Josh Chapman at jchapman@communityhigh.
