This peach colored iris, which bloomed in my front yard, is a lasting tribute to Julia Light, the little old lady who used to sell her irises on Roanoke City Market during the warm months. Mrs. Light, who died a couple of years ago in her 80s, delighted in her irises and so did I and a bunch of other people. The colors are bright and deep and the flowers are the size of your hand. They are a lasting legacy to a lovely lady. I miss seeing her.
Thank you for your kind words about my mother-in-law, Julia Light. It's comforting to know that her irises bloom on each year as a living memorial to a very special lady.
