My friend Laura Hawley (center, above), who will graduate from Hollins University with a degree in environmental science, was inducted into Pinnacle this evening and I'm proud of her. Laura has fought a long battle as a non-traditional student who was also battling health issues bad enough to intimidate the hell out of most of us.
Pinnacle is for Horizon students, who have returned to school after being out for a while. Many are single mothers and all want the education almost desperately. Hollins accommodates splendidly.
