Wasena Park Flood Reduction: It's Working

The new bridge at Vic Thomas Park has plenty of room.

Debris on new low-water bridge.
Water went over this bridge, as usual.
Water is high, but causing no damage.
Water is far from the greenway path.
Here are some photos, taken late this afternoon in Wasena Park, site of recent flood control efforts by Roanoke (working with the federal government). It's working. Quite well, thank you.

The rain of the last few days and the heavy squalls we had this afternoon would have flooded this entire area a year or two ago, but all the work that has been done to reduce the flooding has left the park with a high river that is causing little or no damage.

Kudos to the boys who did the work.
