Rocky Mount's New Harvester Center Impressive

Crowd piles in for Asleep at the Wheel.
Took a drive under a full moon out to the four-month-old Harvester Performance Center in Rocky Mount tonight, where Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel are playing, and I have to 'fess up: I'm impressed.

This is a new music and general entertainment venue in the center of town that Town Council had built from an old warehouse, hired great people to operate and are seeing become a thumping heart of economic development in a town that has been impressive in that way for several years.

Exterior of the Harvester.
The Center held 450 for tonight's concert, but it can be configured in different ways and can hold up to about 550, according to Sheila Silverstein, the assistant GM who moved down here from her home in Baltimore because she was so impressed.

I ran into a number of people I know, including writing buds Roland Lazenby and Richard Lovegrove, as well as a guy I sponsored in AA years ago, who has since moved to New Mexico. Good to see old Mike.

The moon coming home was simply lovely, so I had to send out a moon hug to one who appreciates it most.

Take an evening and go to the Harvester Performance Center. You can find a schedule of events on the website (here) and my guess is you'll be impressed with the level of the entertainment. You'll like it. Guaranteed.
