Times must be getting tighter and tighter at a local daily newspaper in Roanoke. WDBJ7 television is reporting that because the paper has pulled its financial support of Music For Americans, the city's 4th of July celebration, which has been one of the paper's signature events since 1976, the event is in danger of folding.
The report says Carilion has picked up some of the cost, but there remains a $12,000 hole if the event is to take place. Show producer Jan Wilkins says the show could be days away from being cancelled.
