VTC Research Institute on 'Today' Thursday

Mike Friedlander
NBC's "Today Show" was in town recently to put together a segment on the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute, which will run Thursday between 8 and 8:30 a.m., I'm told by a board member.

The same board member said that CBS "This Morning," its equivalent of "Today" had inquired about doing a piece on VTCRI, but Executive Director Mike Friedlander "blew them off because 'Today' is so much higher rated."

 Nice position to be in.

  1. Dear Dan,

I read this posting with interest. I would like to correct the record. The CBS show did in fact run some coverage on the recent research findings of the VTCRI. However, they simply reported from their studio on the findings of a recently published article from one of our research teams while the NBC Today Show sent a crew to Roanoke to cover the story more fully. We take all media requests for coverage of the research activities at VTCRI seriously and are honored by the media interest in our work and in the community.

Thank you for your interest in the VTCRI.

    Sincerely,

    Mike Friedlander

  2. Thank you, Mike. You might want to relay that message to your board, as well, since that's where I got the info. You guys are doing magnificently, bringing positive coverage to a state that has thoroughly embarrassed itself during the disastrous last two weeks in Richmond.
