Studio Roanoke’s first holiday offering is being put on by a couple of No Shame Theatre veterans, writer Jeff Goode and director Todd Ristau.

Goode, who is visiting for the production, was in Roanoke two years ago as a guest artist for the Playwright’s Lab, and returns in the summer of 2010 to teach classes in adaptation and writing plays with music. He is a co-founder of No Shame Theatre, founding artistic director of No Shame Los Angeles, and guest faculty in the graduate program in playwriting at Hollins University. Todd is on the theater teaching staff at Hollins University and is also a co-founder of No Shame. He'll also teach a class at our Roanoke Regional Writers Conference Jan. 22-23 at Hollins and you can find out more about that here.

The play is “Yes, Svetlana, There is a Grandfather Frost” and it will run Dec. 8-13 with tickets going for $5 at a special showing Dec. 7 and $15 during the run. The play is to be published by Original Works Publishing and the production is the world premier, which will be listed as such in the published volume due out in 2010.

"Yes, Svetlana” is the story of a state-run Russian newspaper, operated by a cynic who is asked to defend the Soviet version of Santa. You can order tickets here.
