(UPDATE: This property is no longer available for free. Sorry.)
My friend Debbie Sinex, who owns the building at 2nd Street and Kirk Ave. in downtown Roanoke (it used to be the Angler Cafe) is offering the space for free to the right person or business. It has been occupied for about six months by what Debbie calls "an artist" (that would be River Laker, the Carless Brit), but his lease is up in November.
Debbie says, "If I do the rent-free thing again (they just have to keep up the space and pay their utilities), I would like someone in there who would be open more hours and give the place a bit more life. And of course, it would need to be some business or pursuit that we would want to support, We’re not looking for a storefront church. I would continue to look for a paying tenant, but do offer some lease time if needed.”
Debbie’s available at email@example.com or just give me a call or send an e-mail and I'll get in touch with Deb. She listed the space on Craig's List here. She lives in Atlanta and has an apartment upstairs in the building that she uses on occasion.
