The exterior of the renovated Ponce de Leon in downtown Roanoke is spectacular. |

Ponce from the ground. |
Exterior renovations for the Ponce de Leon on Campbell Avenue in Roanoke are all but finished on the outside, but the interior make-over is still underway. Still, leases for the many apartments are being snapped up quickly from Waldvogel Commercial Properties.
Here's an up-to-date look at the old hotel, which spent much of the past 25 years as TAP headquarters and was called the Crystal Tower for more than 40 years.
The view at the right shows the proximity of Roanoke's daily newspaper (lower left of the photo), which ran a file photo with its recent story on the Ponce's updates, not wanting to send a photographer all the way over to ... uh ... next door.

This is an exterior lower corner of the building. |

This view is from the Southwest Virginia Savings Building on Campbell (upper left windows were once my office when the Blue Ridge Business Journal was there). |
