Looks like Salem native and Roanoke College graduate John McAfee, a major technology player on the world stage, has been captured. The 67-year-old, who graduated from the Salem school in 1967, has been on the run as a murder suspect in Belize. A report on Huffington Post says he was caught on the Belize-Mexico border. The report comes from his official blog, whoismcafee.com. Counter to the reports, however, Belize police say McAfee is still at large. He has been running since a neighbor, with whom he had some serious conflicts, was found dead. McAfee denies involvement and has offered a reward for the capture of the guilty party. McAfee, who invented the first computer virus protection, one used universally, was the 2008 commencement speaker at Roanoke College. He is the second Roanoke College luminary to run afowl of the law. John Mulheren, a 1971 graduate and Wall Street bigwig, was convicted of insider trading in the late 1980s
and served time on fraud and conspiracy charges in 1990.
