Griffith Gets One Right ... Finally

Under the rubric of "even a blind hog finds an occasional acorn," 9th District Congressman and drunk driving lawyer Morgan Griffith broke with the far, far (so far you can't see it) right wing of his party yesterday and voted for a bill that would have toned down the National Security Agency's spying on ordinary American Citizens.

His usual partners in the crime of marginalizing the citizenry--Bob Goodlatte of the 6th District and Robert Hurt of Franklin County, Danville and not much else--voted against the Amash-Conyers Amendment to essentially end the NSA's habit of tracking random calls. Griffith said, in effect, that it is his "first duty ... to protect and uphold the freedoms recognized by the U.S. Constitution’s Bill of Rights." Wish he'd apply that elsewhere.
