Writer Michael Abraham To Run for 7th District Seat

Motorcycle-riding Michael Abraham.
My buddy Michael Abraham, the former owner of Christiansburg Printing who's now involved in writing and publishing books, plans to run for the 7th District House of Delegates seat in Montgomery County. Michael is as liberal as I and I told him he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning, but, I added, "I hope you win." And I do.

Michael is a good one to make the case for the left (Republican Nick Rush holds the seat)--and of course the Democratic Party will deny there's anything leftist about the message--because he is smart, incisive, convincing (to those who need it) and sold on the philosophy. He and I agree on nearly everything, if that helps you understand where he is philosophically.

Still, this is an uber-conservative region and liberals here do their most effective work when they're complaining, not when they're running, because they/we have no chance of winning. Even moderates like Carter Turner, Rick Boucher and Tom Perriello--all of them better than anybody holding office in the Republican Party in Virginia--either get clobbered in their first and second tries (Turner), get bounced by TeaParty morons (Boucher) or have just one remarkable term (Perriello). Sad.

He and his wife, Jane, own Pocohontas Press, a small book publisher in Montgomery County. (The books aren't all small, but the publisher is.)
