After Surgery, I'm Back in the Saddle Again

The healing knee during today's bike ride.
September's version of the knee.
Today marked the second time (in two days) that I've ridden my bicycle since having an aftermarket part put where my factory knee originally was. The replacement was done in August of last year and although I could have ridden the bike after about three months (doc says four; doc's wrong), I chose to wait until the weather was warm for a bunch of reasons.

The first few pushes of the pedal--done like a baby learning to walk--were difficult, but it smoothed out quickly and I got a 40 minute ride in yesterday and an hour today. I was happy with the result, but my thighs feel like they're going to split open. The process is slow. The rewards undeniable.
