A Romantic Evening at Brink of the James

Margie and me on the veranda of Brink of the James in Buchanan.
Margie's meal.
My best girl and I drove up to Buchanan--on a beautiful, cool, overcast, breezy late summer night--this evening for dinner at our new favorite restaurant: Brink of the James, which sits a block from the river.

We ate outside and had a couple of wondrous dishes: Margie
salmon and me babyback ribs. As we ate, the Buchanan Theater up the street had a long line for its movie ("Ice Age"). What a sweet little town this is, even if it does essentially close at about 5 o'clock--except for a few important places.

Margie pronounced the evening "very romantic." I agree. And it got better.
